The world social forum started in the year 2001 in Porto Alegre (Brasil) as a protest against the world economy forum which took place during the same days at Davos (Swiss).
The world social forum tries to be local and basical grounded and connected with a worldwide network.
At the begin of May 2006 will be the european social forum in Athena.
Next year, the seventh WSF will take place from January 20 to 25, 2007, in Nairobi, Kenya (Africa).

Ladyfest is also a worldwide network with discussions about the existing balance of power from the gender perspective. We are looking for Ladyiz who like to create a workshop to this topic: is there a connection to the ideas from the world social forum and would it be interesting for ladyfest to be a part of this network.
